Frequently Asked Questions

Simple, get in contact with us. We prefer communication via Discord, but applications via Social Media and email (application @ phoenix-awp.org) are also accepted.

We can not stress this enough: We move in active war zones, with all the associated fears and dangers. This can mean increased mental and physical stress over long periods of time. Confidence in one’s own mental strength and relatively sufficient physical fitness are therefore important. Know your blood type in advance, just in case!
This does not entirely apply to the fundraiser and social media positions, but you have to reckon with the fact that you will be working with some very disturbing image and sound material.

For those who want to apply for an OTG position, here is a list of recommended gear and equipment.

At this time we cannot provide compensation for volunteers. Unfortunately, all volunteers have to pay for their own living for the duration of their stay.

If you have found a position that you think you can fill satisfactorily, contact us on our discord server or social media / email. This is where our vetting process begins.
We will contact you privately and ask you some very personal questions. The answer to those are essential for the further process. There will be questions about your mental status, physical fitness, medical history, and possible drug and drinking habits. Under certain circumstances also to a criminal past.

For example:
It can be extremely dangerous for all of us if we are stuck in the trenches and only then find out you have a heart condition and you are running out of medication while someone behind us is waving with an international arrest warrant for you.

When all these questions have been answered and a background check has been completed, we will contact and inform you immediately of our decision.

We are constantly looking for partners. This includes not only financial support, but also partners who can provide us with goods. Goods such as work clothing and protective equipment for our local volunteers. Also very welcome is medical equipment such as stretchers and first aid kits, or vehicles and spare parts.

If you are already working in Ukraine, but you lack the transport options to deliver the relief supplies to the civilians on the front lines, we are also willing to take over. We operate from several central points. Among others Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Kramatorsk.

If you are interested in a supporting partnership, please send us an email.
